The brief

To rewrite copy for a major relaunch of the DACS website, explaining complex legal issues to an audience of artists and designers.


The process

My role here was to write simple, clear copy about how DACS worked for a lay audience of artists and designers, ie people who had better things to do than get to grips with legal details.

That said, it was vital my copy did not misrepresent complicated legal issues, so I worked closely with DACS' team of legal experts to understand the issues involved, then wrote and rewrote the copy based on their feedback to ensure accuracy was not sacrificed for clarity.


The outcome

The new DACS website launched in September 2012. It’s since been redesigned, but my copy remains. Some sample pages:
